Rooted and Wild Photography has moved to Spearfish, South Dakota. So many members of our family moved here, my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and cousins and cousins, and my brother. They called for us to come visit, come see The Black Hills where they fell in love with a new land. So we came. The very first place we went when we arrived in Spearfish after days of driving from Port Orchard, Washington with our toddler and baby was Spearfish City Park. My daughter ran to the castle park, I carried my son to the bank of Spearfish Creek and watched the green, green, green trees make the sunlight ripple and dance on the bank and the rocks. Wildflowers were blooming everywhere. Children were laughing, riding in tubes and splashing freezing water with their feet. And, I told my husband, I want to raise our children here. So we packed up our stuff, sold our house and moved.
While our family is spread out all over the area from Rapid City to Belle Fourche, my husband and I fell in love with Spearfish and that is where we are burying roots. We are building a home right outside Spearfish in Whitewood, but oh how in love we are with Spearfish, with it’s adorable downtown, it’s amazing restaurants, and it’s glorious nature that crashes down from the hillside into the town. We came in late February, and are still short of a year here, but this short time has been some of the happiest days of our entire lives. We are finding joy among the Ponderosa Pines, and following their lead on where it is best to plant some roots.
I am now taking sessions in Spearfish, South Dakota and all over The Black Hills! I am taking family portrait sessions, weddings and engagements, baby and newborn photos, and senior portrait sessions! I am so looking forward to meeting new people and taking their pictures in this beautiful, beautiful place.
